Rendle George
C. Rendle October 7, 2011 George C. Rendle, 64, of Sarasota, Florida,
formerly of North Syracuse, died Friday, October. 7, 2011. Survivors include
a son, Chris of Sarasota; daughter, Lisa Knight of Sarasota; brother,
William of Syracuse; sister, Linda Page of Ballston Spa; his grandchildren,
Jaclyn Burnell, Chase, Juliana and Riley Rendle, Hailey and Hunter Knight;
and a great-grandchild, Lucas Burnell. He was predeceased by his wife, Penny
Brooker Rendle. George was very active at St. John's United Methodist Church
and volunteered for Jewish Family and Children's Service. He dedicated his
life to serving others publicly and privately. He retired as a Syracuse
police officer and social worker. A memorial service to celebrate George's
life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, November 5, at Cleveland United Methodist
Church, 73 Bridge Street, Cleveland NY. Family will greet friends at 3 p.m.
at the church. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist
Church Youth Group, 6611 Proctor Road, Sarasota, FL 34241 or to TideWell
Hospice, Inc. Fergerson Funeral Home, Inc. George
lived near me in East Syracuse. His home at the end of James Street
was a small ranch on a large lot. He maintained both with great pride.
George later divorced and his ex took the kids to Armpit, Texas.
George sacrificed his promising police career of 7 years or so to be near
his kids. The last I heard he was working as a carpenter in San
Angelo. From what you can gather in an obituary, it looks as though
George found a measure of happiness later in life. He was a good man
and I hope it was so. - JW021
