John Michael Dwyer, 68, of Lady Lake, Fla., formerly of Liverpool, died
Wednesday at home. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from St. Anthony's School.
He retired in 1978 as a sergeant after 23 years with the Syracuse Police
Department, and in 1994 after 16 years with Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. He
was a communicant of St. Timothy's Church in Lady Lake and St. John's Church
in Liverpool, and a member of the Eagles Lodge of Leesburg, Fla., Lady Lake
American Legion Post 347 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3146, Syracuse.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. A son, Kelly J., died in 1987.
Survivors: His wife of 44 years, the former Mary Leary; two daughters,
Sharon White of Oceanside, Calif., and Shannon Elliott of Jacksonville,
Fla.; three sons, Patrick M. of Haverhill, Mass., Michael A. of Syracuse and
Daniel T. of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, James of Mattydale; six
grandchildren. Services: 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers
Corners and 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool.
Burial, Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
